Overflow praise and worship styles vary often and reflect both the diversity and creativity of our God and our community. We invite you to join us in celebrating our God and to know that each week may look a little different, but the Spirit of Worship is the same.
KEY SCRIPTURES:
Music Ministry Philosophy:
Col. 3:12-17: We acknowledge that praise comes from allowing God’s words to “dwell in us richly.” As God fills us up and we are made into His likeness, we will overflow with praise… we will give Him the glory and teach one another with His Words in songs and words.
Matt. 18:15-20: We acknowledge that we have a responsibility to be right with our brothers and sisters before God. We recognize that when we gather in Jesus name, the Holy Spirit is there with us… we know this is a great responsibility as we must be set apart for Him. We want to respect and honor His presence among us when we gather.
Psalm 57: We acknowledge that we are human and that you give us emotions. We acknowledge we live in a fallen world and will have trouble. We desire to abide in Him through these times so that we may praise Him in the midst. We want to be honest before God and always come to a place of being “confident” in Him and overflow with PRAISE “among the people”… to live a life of worship to Him.
OUR Heart:
We long to see hearts express, in freedom, their love for God. We want our love for Him to be expressed diversely, artistically, freely, rhythmically, joyfully, dynamically, honestly and with ABANDON.
We acknowledge that, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.(Matt.18:20)” As we gather we also embrace and celebrate that, “where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Cor. 3:17).” As we gather in HIS name and intentionally focus on Him… He is there and as we surrender to Him…there is freedom.
The prayer of the worship arts ministry is that we celebrate the presence of God, acknowledge His presence with reverence and surrender our hearts in praise so that HE would have His way.
Ways YOU can be involved:
BAND Do you play an instrument? Do you love the Lord and desire to use your gifts to worship Him? The Overflow Band might be the place for you. Our desire is to continually grow in reflecting the creativity and diversity of our God and our community. As we strive to do this with excellence, we believe it will be expressed diversely, uniquely and overflowing from hearts full of praise.
VOCALISTS Once a month a team of vocalists gather to grow in their knowledge of singing, blending, unity and to pour out their praise to the Lord with their voices. Under the direction of one of our key leaders in the music ministry, this is a great way to use your gift of singing to edify the body and pour out your love on the Lord.
VISUAL ARTS Are you a visual artist? Do you desire to communicate God’s truth visually to the world? Do you desire God to use your gifts to strengthen your brothers and sisters? Contact Pastor Kendra for possible opportunities to use these gifts!
SPOKEN WORD / DRAMA Are you a poet? Are you an actor or actress? Do you desire to use these gifts to communicate God’s truth in ways words alone are not able to express? Consider using these things at Overflow.
THINKERS / BRAINSTORMERS Do you love brainstorming? Enjoy sitting in a circle where “no idea is a bad idea”? Do you like thinking creatively and feeding off the creativity of others to grow an idea?
